    Nominations invited for the ‘Bharti Enterpreneur of the Year Award 2005’
    Nominations open until July 29, 2005


    July 6, 2005: Bharti Centre for Entrepreneurial Initiatives (BCEI), a Bharti Foundation and Ahmedabad based Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India’s joint initiative, today announced that nominations for the ‘Bharti Entrepreneur Award 2005’ will be accepted until July 29, 2005. The Award recognizes outstanding accomplishments of first generation entrepreneurs who consistently display the qualities of extraordinary creativity, courage and competitiveness. First generation entrepreneurs across India can apply for the award that comprises of a cash award of Rs. 1 lakh, a trophy and a citation.


    Nominations can be made by sending the completed nomination form to Mr. S. B. Sareen, Bharti Centre for Entrepreneurial Initiatives, EDI, (via Ahmedabad Airport & Indira Bridge), at P.O. 382 428, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India or mailed at sareen@ediindia.org.


    Entries for this year’s award are invited from regular Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) trained first generation entrepreneurs, emerging from preferably a non-business family and having completed five successful years in business. An institution or an NGO conducting entrepreneurship development training can also nominate its trained entrepreneur(s).


    A jury consisting of eminent professionals and educationists will shortlist the eligible applications after which the shortlisted candidates will be invited to the EDI campus, Ahmedabad for personal interaction with the jury. The personal interaction will explore the entrepreneur’s vision, roadmap and strategies, for today and the future.


    The finalists from across India will be invited to an award function in Ahmedabad in September 2005.


    The Bharti Centre for Entrepreneurial Initiatives has a set objective of promoting entrepreneurship through a host of activities in education, research and training. This award was instituted in 2002 and was won by a Punjab based entrepreneur, Mr. R. S. Khadwalia, CMD, Indo Farm Equipment Ltd in 2003 and by N.C.V. Rangacharya, Promoter,, Cadsys (India) Ltd from Hyderabad in 2004.
