New Delhi, November 6, 2009 : Bharti Airtel Ltd inaugurated its Center for Shared Services for Taxation at a ceremony held today. Shri. V Sridhar, Chairman CBEC, inaugurated the Centre in the presence of senior officials from the Company and the Service Tax department. Mr. Sridhar congratulated the Company for this initiative.
In a statement, Mr. Manoj Kohli, CEO & Jt. Managing Director, Bharti Airtel Ltd. said : " The Shared Services initiative is part of an overall transformation programme undertaken by us to improve the efficiency, speed and quality of service. The Shared Services will deliver all taxation compliances, and also prepare the Company for the new GST regime which is expected in 2010. With this launch, we will be able to scale up our operations to more than 200 million customers whilst sustaining our compliance track record. The Centre for Shared Services which operates under the "Airtel Activ" umbrella is a centre of excellence where multi- functional processes such as HR, Supply Chain, Finance and Tax would be undertaken for the entire company.
