    Mumbai, March 7, 2016: Bharti Airtel Limited (“Airtel”), India’s no. 1 operator and the third largest mobile services provider globally with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, has emerged as the best 2G network in Mumbai and Maharashtra according to the latest quarterly report by the Telecom Regulator Authority of India (TRAI) for the timeframe of July – Sep 2015.

     

    Commenting on the TRAI’s report, Ashok Ganapathy, Hub CEO - Mumbai. Maharashtra, Goa & Gujarat at Bharti Airtel Ltd said, “We are pleased with the results of TRAI’s quarterly report where Airtel has emerged as the best mobile network on 2G in Maharashtra and Mumbai. The efforts and steps taken to augment our networks in Mumbai and Maharashtra have resulted in Airtel topping the list of network providers. In order to enhance the customer experience, we recently launched 4G services in Mumbai and Maharashtra, prior to which Platinum 3G was launched. These launches are expected to further improve the data and voice experience of smartphone users and help us further consolidate on our proposition of the best smartphone network.”

     

    In terms of ‘Network Availability, Accessibility, Retainability and Point to Interconnection (POI)’, TRAI observed Airtel as the best provider of 2G network among the other telecoms in Mumbai and Maharashtra. Airtel received more than 99.95% and 99.87% ‘Call Set-Up Success Rate’ which exceeds the benchmark set by TRAI of more than 95% in Mumbai and Maharashtra respectively. On the parameter of ‘Connection with Good Voice Quality’ in Mumbai and Maharashtra, Airtel recorded 97.42% and 98.73% respectively surpassing TRAI’s benchmark of more than 95%.

     

    Recently Bharti Airtel had announced a Rs. 60,000 crore investment towards its comprehensive network transformation program – “Project Leap”. Under its ambitious “Project Leap”, Airtel plans to add around 1,60,000 sites in the next three years. Airtel will be adding nearly 23,000 high speed data sites enhancing the overall network experience for customers.
