Airtel money is a mobile wallet through which you can do a host of transactions directly from your mobile phone! You can open an airtel money account instantly, load cash and start using it for multiple purposes like prepaid recharge, money transfer, bill payments, online shopping and more! Airtel money app is available for all the networks and works on all Android and iOS devices. To use the app, you require a Wi-Fi connection or mobile internet (2G/3G) on your phone. There is no extra charge for using the app, just your standard data network charges levied by your service provider will apply.
Airtel money is offered by Airtel M Commerce Services Ltd (AMSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Bharti Airtel Limited. 1. Open an account
Registering for an airtel money account is very easy and takes only a minute! When you download the app for the first time, you need to enter a few details like your name, date of birth and email address. To keep your account safe, you will also be asked to self-select and create a 4-digit password called mPIN.
To activate this account, you need to enter your mobile number and a unique one-time password (OTP) will be sent to your mobile phone immediately. On an Android phone, the app will automatically verify the OTP and you can start using the app instantly. All iOS users will have to enter the OTP in the app screen and then start using the app.
2. Load money
After opening an airtel money account, simply add money to your wallet and start using it instantly!
Web cash load
You can load cash into your airtel money wallet through either of the following -
Our 'Snap & Store' feature allows you to select your debit/credit card and save the card number details for future reference. This saves you time whenever you load cash as you don't need to re-enter the card number again. To ensure complete security, the CVV (the 3-digit number at the back of the card) does not get saved in our records, which means you experience both speed and safety!
Cash load through debit card and net banking is absolutely free! For credit cards, there is a nominal convenience fee which is applicable. The amount of cash that you can load may vary depending on your bank and the mode you select.
Load cash by visiting a retailer
You may also load cash by visiting an authorised airtel money retailer. It's absolutely free of cost! All you need to do is hand over cash to the Retailer and he will take only a minute to load that amount into your airtel money wallet. You will receive an instant SMS confirming a successful top-up.
Retailers Near You
When you wish to visit a retailer to load cash, you can easily find out the nearest airtel money outlet by visiting the 'Settings' option on your main menu and selecting 'Retailers Near You'. In order to use this feature, you need to have a GPS enabled phone. Based on your location, you will be able to view a list of the closest airtel money outlets with their address details and an option to view it on Maps as well.
Retailers Near You - How does it work?
Now request your family, friends and colleagues who are also using the airtel money app, to send money into your wallet instantly!
All you need is the mobile number of the person you wish to send a request to. You can go to the Request section through the main menu or by clicking on the green 'Request' icon on the lower left corner of the app. Here, you can enter either the mobile number or the name of the person from your phone book followed by the amount you wish to request. Your contact will be notified via an SMS. You will also be able to view this request as part of your in-app notifications.

Use airtel money to recharge any prepaid, DTH or data card. Recharge facility for all major companies like Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, Reliance, Aircel, Tata Sky, Dish TV and many more is supported. Just click on 'Recharges' on the home screen and choose the type of recharge you want to make (Mobile/DTH/Data card) to go to the transaction screen.
For example, for mobile recharge, enter a mobile number or a name from your contact list on the transaction screen. Then select the operator followed by the recharge amount. Confirm the transaction with your mPIN. If you're not sure what amount to recharge with, just click on 'Browse Plans' and choose available recharge packs. You will get an instant SMS confirming the transaction.
Your most frequent recharges will always show on the Recharge Card on the home screen. For ease of use multiple denominations like Rs. 50, Rs. 75, Rs. 100 are also displayed on your Recharge Card. To save time, you may select the denomination of your choice, else enter any other desired amount and recharge.
Your frequent recharge will also show when you select ‘Recharge’ option on the home screen. This enables you to repeat your most frequent recharge with a single click! Now all you have to do is select the transaction you wish to repeat and confirm with your mPIN.
With airtel money, you can instantly transfer money to another person, pay at shops or transfer to a bank account - 24x7! To send money or pay, click on the main menu and select ‘Send’ or click on the blue icon at the bottom right corner of the home screen.
Pay Contacts & Shops
Through this option, you can transfer funds instantly to another airtel money user, in 3 simple steps!
Enter the mobile number to which you wish to transfer (or look up a name from your contact list), enter the amount and confirm with mPIN. The amount will get transferred immediately and you will receive an instant SMS for the transaction completed.
Your recent interactions will also be displayed when you select your contact. This enables you to repeat your most frequent transactions with a single click! Now all you have to do is select the transaction you wish to repeat and confirm with your mPIN.
Pay Users Near You
This allows you to identify the airtel money users in your vicinity! To use this feature, your phone should be GPS enabled. Based on your location, you will be able to view a list of the closest airtel money users with their contact number – these may be individuals or even shop owners. You save time by simply selecting the user you wish to transfer money to enter the amount and complete the transaction by confirming the mPIN.
The closest three users near you will also be displayed on the home screen. You may also select your user from there and proceed to complete the transaction.

1. How do I change my mPIN?
If you remember your existing mPIN, you may easily change it on the app and create a new one of your choice.
2. I forgot my mpin, what should I do?
In case you've forgotten your existing mpin, you may easily change it using the app or through USSD.
To change the mpin using the app, follow these easy steps:
A. Click on the wallet balance displayed at the bottom-center of the home screen
B. Select 'Regenerate mpin'
C. Enter your first name, last name, date of birth and the last transaction amount
D. Receive a new mpin via SMS on your registered mobile number
E. For security purpose, you are requested to change this mpin within 48 hours in order to continue using your airtel money wallet. To change the mpin, click on the main menu on the top-left corner of the screen and click on the tab 'change mpin'. Your new mpin will be effective instantly.
To change the mpin through USSD, follow these simple steps:
A. Dial *400*7# from your registered mobile number. Opt for option 3 (Forgot mpin)
B. Enter your first name, last name, date of birth and the last transaction amount
C. Receive a new mpin via SMS on your registered mobile number
D. For security purpose, you are requested to change this mpin within 48 hours in order to continue using your airtel money wallet. To change the mpin, click on the main menu on the top-left corner of the screen and click on the tab 'change mpin'. Your new mpin will be effective instantly.
3. I use airtel money app but I don't have an airtel number. I have forgotten my mPIN, how do I get a new one?
Getting a new mPIN is easy and can be done in 3 simple steps:
Step 1: Call airtel customer support by dialling 08800012121 from a non-airtel number (STD charges would be applicable for this number)
Step 2: Select the option for airtel money to connect to a customer care representative. The agent will reset and send you a fresh mPIN via SMS, after the necessary verification
Step 3: For security purpose, you are requested to change this mPIN within 48 hrs in order to use your airtel money wallet. To change mPIN, click on the main menu on top left corner of the screen and click on the tab 'Change mPIN'
4. While doing a transaction if I realise my airtel money account balance is not enough, what should I do?
Airtel money app allows you to load cash on the go! It will automatically identify the extra amount that you need to complete your transaction and give you the option to load cash within the same screen. Here's an example -

The amount of cash you can load to your airtel money wallet varies depending on your bank and the mode you select. Please refer the section on Charges and Limits for further details.
6. What are the charges applicable if I load cash through a retailer or online?

This feature has been designed to make your cash load experience both safe and quick! It allows you to select your debit/credit card and save the card number details for future reference. So you can load cash quicker without having to enter your details again. To ensure complete security of your account, the CVV (the 3-digit number at the back of the card) does not get saved in our records, therefore the transaction can only be done when you enter the CVV.
8. How can I request someone to send money into my wallet?
There are 2 ways in which you can request other airtel money users to send money directly into your wallet:
a) Request Contacts
Now request your friends, family members or colleagues for cash - anytime and from anywhere. All you need to do is go to the Request Contact option from the main menu or do it directly from the Request icon on the lower left corner of the home screen, then enter the mobile number (or the name from your contact list) followed by the amount. That person will receive an instant SMS and an airtel money notification.
9. How do I view my account statement?
In your account statement you can view the details of all your transactions for a period of 30 days. You have the option to select your preferred date range. The date range must be less than 6 months. Here's how you can view your statement:
10. I have lost my phone, what happens to my airtel money account?
Your airtel money account is safe even if you lose your mobile phone as the mPIN is known only to you and therefore no one else can access your account or do a transaction. Please inform airtel money by immediately contacting our customer care team. You may dial 121 from an airtel number or 08800012121 from a non-airtel number and we shall block your account for further security. Once you have a new handset, please contact the customer care to unblock your airtel money account. We recommend that you change your mPIN once you change your handset.
11. How do I check my account balance?
Your airtel money account balance is always displayed on the centre bottom of the home screen of the app. Remember to check your balance before proceeding for a transaction.
12. Is my airtel money account balance different from my prepaid/postpaid phone balance?
13. I have installed the new airtel money app on my phone. Can I continue to use the old one?
It is recommended that you uninstall the old app first and then download the new airtel money app. The new features and benefits are available on the new version only.
USING AIRTEL MONEY
14. While using this app, what is the maximum amount allowed for a single transaction?
The maximum amount per transaction can be Rs. 10,000 on the app, except for money transfer which is Rs. 5000.
15. If I wish to recharge my prepaid mobile phone through airtel money, can I avail the ongoing special offers given by my service provider?
For any existing offers, you may refer 'Browse Plans' link in the recharge transaction screen. This will show you all available offers for airtel and non-airtel recharges. You may select an offer and proceed with the transaction.
16. Is there any limit for recharging my prepaid mobile number through airtel money?
The minimum amount you may recharge for is Rs. 10 and the maximum amount is Rs. 10,000.
17. How long does it take for money to reach my beneficiary?
Your beneficiary will receive the money instantly when it's transferred through IMPS for banks which are enabled on instant transfer facility. For other banks, money is transferred through NEFT which takes up to 4 working hours.
18. How do I know money has reached the beneficiary?
You will receive an SMS and an in-app notification for every successful money transfer i.e. when the money reaches the beneficiary account. The receiver will also get an SMS on the number entered by you while doing the transaction.
19. How many days before the due date should I make a bill payment?
It takes 3 days for your utility bill payments (electricity, water, gas) to be processed, therefore we request you to make a payment 3 days prior to the due date to avoid any late payment charges.
20. Are there any charges for using the airtel money app?
There are no extra charges for using the airtel money app. Standard data network charges levied by your network operator would apply.
21. Is there any limit on the amount of money I can transfer through airtel money?
In one transaction, you may transfer a minimum amount of Rs. 10 and a maximum amount of Rs. 5,000.
25. What are the charges applicable for money transfer?
There is a nominal fee for money transfer which depends on the transaction amount. Please refer to the section on Charges and Limits for further details.
22. What are recharge coupons?
Every time you recharge your mobile, you earn yourself a free coupon! These coupons have exciting offers and deals which will be redeemable on websites and at physical merchant outlets.
23. How do I find out which offers/coupons am I eligible for?
Just open the home screen of the app and shake your phone to view all the offer coupons, selected especially for you.
24. How do I select and avail these coupons?
You can select the coupons of your choice while doing a mobile recharge transaction. After you enter the amount of recharge, you will be asked to select one or more coupons of your choice. Once your recharge transaction has been complete, you will instantly receive an SMS from MYDALA with the coupon details for redemption. If you wish to complete the transaction quickly without opting for coupons, you can click on skip and continue.
25. When I select Pay Users Near You, who all will I be able to view?
When you select Pay Users Near You, your GPS will detect airtel money users within the range of metres. You will be able to view the nearest 10 users – these could be individuals or merchant outlets. If the number is stored in your phone book, you will be able to see the name, else you will see a mobile number.
26. What if I don't want others to see my number when they select Pay Users Near You?
Don't worry, the privacy settings on the app helps you control whether you'd like to be visible or stay undetected when others turn on the Pay Users Near You feature on their phones. All you need to do is go to Settings from the main menu and select Broadcast Your Location. By default this is activated in all airtel money apps, you can choose to turn this off so that you are not visible to others.
27. How do I get to know if someone has sent me a request for money?
You can view all your requests in one glance by visiting the notifications link on the home page. The icon is placed on the top right corner of the app home screen and shows you all your requests - sent and received. So even if you missed an alert the moment it came, you always have the option to go to notifications and check all the requests.
28. Is it safe to store my card details on the app?
Please be assured that it is completely safe for you to Snap & Store your card number - this functionality is certified by PCI DSS, which is a security standards council helping organisations to ensure safe handling of cardholder's information. When you click and save your card number, it saves you effort as your card details get displayed automatically for all your subsequent transactions. However, please remember that the card expiry and CVV number do not get stored in the records which means even if someone gets access to your phone, they would still need these details and your mPIN to complete a transaction.
29. How many cards can I click and save on the airtel money app?
You can save multiple cards through the Snap & Store feature, there is no limit currently.
30. How do I save my card number for future transactions?
This can be done either at the time of loading cash online or as part of the initial settings when you're registering for airtel money. When you click on the Wallet Balance and choose to load cash, the app screen asks you to select credit or debit card and enter the number. On the same page you have an option called 'Scan Your Card'. Click on this and it will activate the camera on your phone. Hold your phone against the card while it gets scanned. Upon completion you will be able to view the card number on the app screen!
