Is airtel money safe and secure?
When you register for airtel money, you will set your secret personal identification number (mPIN). mPIN is required to authorize all your transactions and to get any account information. The mPIN is not stored anywhere on the phone or at any server. The transmission between you and the server is highly secure and is done using encryption mechanism ensuring highest safety and security standards.

The mPIN is known to the airtel money account holder only. Even people at airtel money don't have access to your mPIN as it is stored in our system in an encrypted format. Your money will always be safe even if you accidently lose your phone, so long as you have not disclosed your mPIN to anyone.
When should I set my mPIN?
As soon as your registration is completed, you will receive an SMS confirming the same. You should immediately change the default mPIN to a number of your choice.
How do I protect my mPIN?
Please keep your mPIN secret and do not share it with anyone. We will never call you for your mPIN or ask for it when you call us. In case you feel your mPIN has been compromised any time, please call customer support to have it reset.
I forgot my mPIN. What should I do?
Please call customer support to have it reset. You will be sent a temporary mPIN via SMS after necessary verification. You need to change this mPIN within 48 hours in order to use the service.
Will I be informed when my account gets credited or debited?
Yes. A confirmation SMS will be sent whenever a transaction is processed from your account.
Can my account get locked? What should I do?
Yes, if we detect suspicious activity on your account, we may sometimes lock the account. This is largely to protect your money. You can call call customer support for resolution.
Validity of the account
Please transact using airtel money on a regular basis. If you do not use your wallet for a continuous period of 185 days then AMSL shall close the wallet and forfeit the amount there-in. A transaction includes deposit of money and spending from your wallet.
