can I use my India phone instrument with the airtel world simTM ?

The airtel world simTM works on 1800MHZ and 900 MHZ frequencies, the same frequencies that the phones in India operate. Check your India phone instrument for compatibility with the frequencies given above.
The airtel world simTM will work with any Tri-band or Quad-band GSM cell phone, please ensure that your cell phone meets the following criteria:
* GSM Tri-band (GSM 900/1800/1900) or Quad-band (GSM 850/900/1800/1900)
* It is an unlocked GSM cell phone
* It has an international power adapter

In case you are unable to make outgoing calls, please switch off your handset and switch it on again and log on to an alternate network through "Manual Network Selection"
• Select “Menu”
• Scroll and select “Settings”
• Scroll and select “Phone Settings”
• Scroll and select “Network Selection”
• Choose “Manual”. This will give you all the networks in the city that you are in. Select an alternate network from this list.
In case your airtel world simTM still does not work, please contact our customer support team at 1800-102-9933 (toll free) when in India or +91-22-4171-0000 (standard international calling rates will apply) when abroad.

Please call customer service at +91-22-41710000 (Standard international calling rates will apply).
Important: Any unused balance on the lost SIM will be transferred to the new airtel world simTM. However, airtel will only transfer that amount as per its system record from the time the customer has informed loss of SIM to airtel. No refund/liability will be entertained for any amount consumed before reporting of lost SIM. Expiry of the new airtel world simTM will be same as the lost SIM.

| airtel world simTM has validity of 6 months from the date of subscriber activation during that period airtel world simTM service can be activated/deactivated each time you travel abroad. airtel world simTM will be permanently deactivated after 6 months from initial activation date. You would need to purchase a new airtel world simTM if the validity has expired. |

airtel world simTM is only a voice service. However, you can carry your BlackBerry phone with the India airtel SIM on roaming. Your BlackBerry would continue receiving emails while all calls would be diverted to airtel world simTM.
Please note that for BlackBerry usage through your airtel India SIM you would be charged as per the international roaming charges for data usage as per your bill plan.

how do I use the airtel world simTM?
-
Step1 : Just before leaving abroad, using your India airtel SIM, send SMS "AWS A" to 58125 to activate your service. This would be instantly activate your airtel world simTM. However, please note that you would be unable to use your India airtel SIM once your airtel world simTM is activated, hence activation should be done just before departure.
• If you would like to activate the airtel world simTM at a particular time then send the following SMS “AWS A hh:mm”. You would need to specify the time (IST) at which you want the service to be activated in hh:mm format. On successful activation, you would receive a confirmatory SMS.
• For example, if your international flight is at 10:20 PM , then prior to your departure send an sms “AWS A 22:20” to 58125. Note: Once the service is activated, you would be unable to receive any calls on your India airtel SIM.
Step 2: On arrival, insert the activated airtel world simTM in phone, select country profile and start talking.
For USA – Select “US Profile”
For Italy – Select “Prime Profile”
For All other Countries – Select “Global Profile”
In case you select incorrect country, the call charges will be higher than normal tariff. Step 3: To make outgoing calls, dial the country code (e.g. +91 or 0091), followed by the destination number (mobile or landline) and wait for 10–15 seconds. You will get a ring back, accept the call, you will be now connected to the destination number.
• For India calling, you can use your phone book, however, please ensure that the phone number is saved with India country code i.e. 091 or +91
• To use airtel world simTM in USA and Italy, please follow the following instructions:
− Go to Menu > Select “sim Menu” > For USA – Select “USA Profile”*
If this is not followed incoming calls will be charged in USA
− For Italy – Select “Prime Profile”
− For All other Countries – Select “Global Profile”

how do I recharge the airtel world simTM?

Voucher Recharge:
While in India, simply buy a recharge voucher from a retail outlet. Type "AWS R <16 digit recharge pin number>" and send it to 58125 from your India airtel SIM. Or get your friend to buy it if you are abroad. Ask him to type "AWS R <16 digit PIN number> <your 10 digit India airtel number> and SMS to 58125 from his airtel number.
Online recharge:
You can also log in to your account by clicking on the “Recharge now” button on the top navigation bar while in India or abroad. Top up your account using an Indian credit card.

how do I check my phone balance?

You can check your phone balance by dialing “187” from your phone. Your credit balance will appear in US dollar on your mobile screen. You can also login to your account by clicking on My Account button on the top navigation bar to check your balance.
While in India, you can SMS ‘AWS B” to 58125 from your airtel India SIM to get the balance.

how do I deactivate my airtel world simTM?

Once are back to India from an international trip, please insert the India airtel SIM and type “AWS D” and send it to 58125 to deactivate your service.
While you are abroad, you can also deactivate the airtel world simTM by logging into your account.
Note: In case you do not deactivate your airtel world simTM card, you would not be able to receive call on your airtel India SIM card. airtel world simTM does not work in India. |
