Asokan was appointed as Director Supply Chain in June 2006. He is a member of the Bharti Airtel Management Board.
His career spans 26 years across a variety of functions in materials, vendor development, sales, marketing and IT in the Automotive and Engineering industries. Having started his career at Bharat Heavy Electricals as a graduate engineer trainee, he moved to the Eicher Group of companies where he was heading Materials function and also took an active role in IT enabled business process re-engineering and ERP implementation. Prior to joining Bharti, Asokan was at Tata AutoComp Systems, driving auto component exports from India to the US and Europe, and was also responsible for their Engineering Services businesses. As member of the Board of some of the Tata Group companies, he played a key role in improving operational efficiency while enhancing governance.Asokan is an Honours graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Madurai University and a member of Cost and Works Accountants of India. He also attended leadership training programs from Ross School of Business Management, Michigan University.
