New Delhi, February 22, 2005: Airtel Broadband & Telephone Services, India’s first & largest private broadband and telephone service provider, today announced new tariff broadband packages customized for its residential and business users. These tariffs packages available at multiple price points would enable customers to choose the most suitable package depending on their usage. Tariff packages announced include the flexi-plan, which offers customers the flexibility to utilize the monthly charges either on Internet usage or on voice usage or both. With the introduction of new plans and the enhancement of offerings on the existing plans, Airtel now offers some of the most economical broadband packages in the country. Airtel has also substantially lowered the one time upfront charges including installation & registration costs and the security deposits. The initiative is set to provide a major boost to the penetration of broadband services in the country.

Airtel currently provides broadband & telephone services in Delhi, Haryana, UP-West (Noida), Madhya Pradesh & Chattisgarh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and has more than 1 lakh DSL customers in its circles of operation.

Airtel by using the ‘always-on’ DSL service offers the benefit of scalability of bandwidth to the users and is currently available in bandwidth packages of 64 kbps, 128 kbps, 256 kbps, 384 Kpbs and 512 kbps respectively. Targeted at residential, SMEs and large corporates, the service is scalable depending upon the usage. Customized packages make Airtel’s DSL packages economical and at the same time it does not require any additional line provisioning.

With the introduction of new plans and the enhancement of offerings on the existing plans, Airtel now offers some of the most economical broadband packages in the country. There are broadband packages available at various price points depending on the combinations of time and data downloads. There are also combo packages (for internet & voice usage) and flexi plans on offer. In fact, Airtel is offering a ‘Turbo Starter pack’ at Rs. 249/- per month for speeds upto 64 kbps. For the business user, the packages start with a monthly rental of Rs. 2,495 for 512 Kbps.
