    1) What are the benefits of the Airtel Accident insurance recharges?

    Airtel is offering Personal Accident Insurance benefit on three recharges. Rs.239 recharge:

    • Validity 28 days
    • Rs 1 Lac accidental death & disability cover and Rs 25,000 hospitalization cover (min 24 hours) due to accident (injury, fractures, etc.), from ICICI Lombard General Insurance.
    • Unlimited National Calls i.e. Local, STD and Roaming Calls
    • 2GB Data
    • 100 SMS per Day

    Rs. 399 recharge:

    • Validity 28 days
    • Rs 1 Lac accidental death & disability cover and Rs 25,000 hospitalization cover (min 24 hours) due to accident (injury, fractures, etc.) from ICICI Lombard General Insurance.
    • Unlimited National Calls i.e. Local, STD and Roaming Calls
    • 2GB data per day
    • 100 SMS per Day

    Rs. 969 recharge:

    • Validity 84 days
    • Rs 1 Lac accidental death & disability cover and Rs 25,000 hospitalization cover (min 24 hours) due to accident (injury, fractures, etc.), from ICICI Lombard General Insurance.
    • Unlimited National Calls i.e. Local, STD and Roaming Calls
    • 1.5GB data per day
    • 100 SMS per Day

    Important points:

    • Policy will be generated for the registered SIM card holder ONLY and the name cannot be changed
    • The customer needs to be between 18 to 80 years of age
    • No medical tests are required
    • No requirement of any paperwork
    • A digital copy of the policy would be sent instantly to customer’s registered mobile number. You can also ask the customer to visit Airtel Thanks app to view or download his/her policy and get details about claims or cancellation.

    2) What is Accident Insurance?

    Accident Insurance is a type of Insurance policy that offers a financial compensation in the event of hospitalization due to injuries, permanent disabilities, or death caused by an accident. This is designed to help you with the financial impact of unexpected accidents, including medical costs, lost wages, and other related expenses.

    An accident here includes not just accident during travel or on the road, but any injury/incident inside home or outside, that may result into hospitalization (24 hours or more), permanent disability and/or death.
    For example, a fall from the stairs/terrace/slippage, natural calamity or even an attempted murder resulting into death, permanent disability or hospitalization is covered. However, an intentional injury for eg., due to participation in adventure sports or suicide attempt, mental disorder, unlawful activity, are not covered under this insurance policy.

    3) What does an accident cover?

    An Accident is not only just road/rail/air accident, but any type of accident due to an external factor eg. accidental fall on your terrace/house, any animal coming in your way, natural calamity, house fires, crash or collisions, injuries due to workplace or gym equipment/machinery or falls (case to case basis). However, an intentional injury/illness, for eg. arising due to participation in riots, war-like operations, adventure sports, high risk jobs (underground mines, circus, jockeys), attempted suicide or suicide, injury/illness arising under the influence of drugs/alcohol or due to insanity or mental disorder, any unlawful activity, are not covered under this insurance policy.

    4) What is a Policy Certificate number?

    Policy Certificate number or policy number is a unique number that is generated for your policy. You can use this number while

    • Making any changes to your policy
    • Raising a query
    • Filing a claim

    5) Who is eligible for this insurance recharge service?

    Any Airtel customer who is in the age of 18-80 years is eligible for the accident insurance benefit.

    6) How will I receive my policy documents?

    You will get the policy details document through an SMS, WhatsApp on your registered mobile number as well as via mail on your registered email id with Airtel.

    7) What proof will I get that my insurance policy has been generated?

    You will receive the following proofs for the accident insurance policy:

    • You can manage and view your policy in the Airtel Thanks App.
    • You will receive a COI (Certificate of Insurance Policy) on SMS and WhatsApp from Airtel as well as the insurer with a link to view/download Insurance Policy.

    8) How and when can I activate Accident Insurance?

    The Policy gets auto-activated from the policy start date (T+1 12 am, T being the recharge success time). You do not need to take any action.

    9) How can I get a copy of accident insurance?

    It’s a simple 1 step process to activate & receive a copy of the accident insurance:

    Recharge with any of the Airtel Accident insurance Recharge Plans from Rs.239, Rs.399, Rs. 969. Your policy will get automatically generated as per the below conditions:

    • Policy will be generated for the Registered SIM card holder ONLY and the name cannot be changed
    • You should be between 18 to 80 years of age

    10) How do I recharge insurance bundled prepaid pack?

    There are 2 options to choose from, you can download the Airtel Thanks App or visit the airtel.in or nearest retailer shop to make the recharge with insurance bundle packs similar to any other recharge pack. You just need to select pack with insurance benefits and recharge as usual.

    11) How much do I have to pay?

    You do not need to pay anything additional apart from the recharge pack value.

    12) Do I need to submit any proofs/documents to get the accident insurance policy?

    No documentation is required for generating the accident insurance policy. If you fulfil the eligibility criteria, his/her policy will get generated automatically. Please note, the accident insurance once active, only covers the registered SIM card holder.

    13) I am unable to find my policy details. How can I get it again?

    You can visit Airtel Thanks App to get the policy details and then download the copy of the insurance policy. You would have also received the policy details on SMS and WhatsApp on your Airtel registered mobile number.     14) Is Airtel my insurance partner or agent?

    No, Airtel is just the facilitator and is providing the accident insurance through ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company. This insurance policy is directly between you and the insurance partner. For any queries, you can directly reach out to the insurer on the following–

    15) My policy is not in the correct name. How can I change/modify it?

    The policy will only be generated on the name of the registered SIM-card holder as updated in our records. In case the name is different, you will have to take another SIM in your name to get the Accident Insurance coverage. For any minor corrections in your name, please visit Airtel Thanks App – Manage Insurance Section and click on Modify details and submit the corrected name with a KYC proof. Alternately, you can reach out to the insurance company via dedicated toll free -1800 2666 and raise the request for name correction. Insurance company will verify your details and share the updated copy in 5-7 working days after receipt of the valid proofs.

    16) How can I check my Policy Number?

    You would receive the policy details document via SMS, WhatsApp and email. You can also request for policy details again on the Airtel Thanks App.

    17) What if the next recharge is of different pack value, will the insurance be still active?

    Airtel offers Accident Insurance only on threee recharges, Rs.234 & Rs. 399 (monthly validity), Rs. 969 (long validity). If you recharge with any other pack, the Accident Insurance policy benefit will no longer continue after the pack & policy expires. You can restart the policy by recharging again with Rs.239/399/969

    18) I want to cancel the Policy and want a refund?

    Your policy is valid only till the pack validity of the insurance recharge pack. Since it is a benefit given along with recharge, it is not possible to provide any refund for the Accident Insurance policy.

    21) How do I cancel my policy?

    -If you are not satisfied with the policy, you can cancel within the first 7 days of the receipt of the policy certificate or policy welcome letter. Please reach our insurance partner’s dedicated Assistance Helpline at 1800 2666 or login on the Airtel Thanks App to register the cancellation request. Please note this is a value-added benefit with your recharge pack and hence, no refund shall be provided on cancellation of your policy.

    22) How can I use or claim my policy benefits?

    In case of Claim, you (Policyholder) or the Nominee can file claim with our Insurance Partner ICICI Lombard for availing the policy benefits.

    23) Will my policy number change in case I do Rs.399 recharge after doing Rs.239 recharge? Where can I see the new policy number?

    Your policy number or insurance certificate number changes with every recharge. You will receive the policy details on WhatsApp and SMS after every recharge. You can also view or manage your policy anytime on Airtel Thanks App.

    Nominee Related

    24) Who is a "nominee"?

    Nominee is any adult person (18 years old or more) from customer’s relations, who would get the insurance cover amount (Rs. 1 lakh) in case of insured person’s death due to accident. The nominee can be customer’s legal heir i.e Son, Daughter, Husband, Wife Mother, Father, Grand Father, Grand Mother, Grand Son, Sister, Brother, Father-in-law, Mother-in-law, Nephew or Niece.

    25) What happens if I don’t give my nominee details?

    In case of insured person’s accidental death, claim will only be given to the nominee or legal heir of the person. For this, you need to follow standard process laid out by insurance company. Hence, it is always advisable to share your nominee details with the insurance company in advance. You can fill in nominee details on Airtel Thanks App or reach out to the ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company to update the nominee details in the policy on tollfree number 1800 2666.

    26) What happens if my nominee is less than 18 years of age?

    Insurance claim cannot be given to nominee less than 18 years of age.

    27) How I fill the nominee details?

    Nominee details can be updated even after pack activation. There are 2 ways to do this:

    Validity related

    29) Is there a long validity (84 days) variant available for this recharge?

    Yes, there is a long validity Rs. 969 (84 days recharge validity) variant available for this recharge.

    30) Where do I check expiring date?

    Policy End/Expiry date is mentioned on your policy certificate/welcome letter document.

    31) What is the validity of the insurance policy, and what premium do I need to pay every month? Where do I check expiring date?

    You insurance is valid only until the validity of the insurance recharge pack. As soon as your pack validity ends, your insurance also ends. You do not need to pay any extra premium. Just recharge with Airtel Rs. 239 or 399 pack every month or Rs.969 pack every quarter to continue availing the accident insurance benefits.

    32) Does this policy auto-renew?

    No, you need to recharge with the insurance bundle pack to continue insurance benefits.

    33) Is there a way to continue the insurance without recharging my Airtel SIM with Insurance recharge pack – 239 or 399?

    No, customer/you need to recharge the Airtel SIM with Rs.239 or Rs.399 pack every 28 days, to continuously avail the Accident Insurance Benefits. The insurance policy is valid only till the validity of Rs.239 or Rs.399 recharge i.e. 28 days. If customer does not recharge with one of these packs, the insurance policy and hence accident coverage benefits shall expire.

    34) Will my existing prepaid pack get affected if I recharge this pack?

    No, your new pack and policy shall get activated after existing pack expires.

    35) What happens if I don’t claim the policy benefits before end of the month?

    You cannot claim the policy benefits or a refund, once your policy is expired.

    36) What will happen if I recharge with Airtel Accident Insurance Recharge (Rs.239/399/969 pack), while validity of the current recharge in still pending?

    Your Airtel Accident Insurance recharge plan and Accident insurance policy will only get activated post expiry of your current recharge.

    37) Is there any waiting period under this policy?

    There is NO waiting period under this policy. Your policy is effectively immediately from the next date of your recharge transaction date.

    38) Is there any survival period under this policy?

    There is no survival period applicable under this policy.

    39) Is this insurance valid only in India or Internationally as well?

    This insurance is valid only with in India.

    40) Is there any age limit?

    Min age limit is 18 Years and Maximum age is 80 Years.

    41) Is the service available on postpaid?

    This benefit is only available with Airtel Prepaid Packs of 239, 399, 969.

    42) Is there any minimum or maximum coverage limit under this policy?

    Maximum coverage under Accidental death & Permanent total disability is Rs.1 lac and for Accidental Hospitalization is Rs.25000.

    43) Will pre-existing conditions be covered in this policy?

    No, pre-existing conditions are not covered in this policy. This policy covers accident-related hospitalization, disability and death only.

    44) I have recharged with one of the insurance recharge packs, but I haven’t received any policy or the Policy is not activated yet? I want to know the policy status. An accident insurance policy will not be generated for the customer in the following cases:

    • Your age is not in the eligible bracket of 18 to 80 years
    • If the registered name in Airtel System has special characters. Policy would be generated only for registered SIM card holder, so we cannot generate a policy if the registered name is invalid.
    • Customer’s Airtel prepaid plan and accident insurance policy will only get activated post expiry of the current recharge.

    45) What are the documents required to initiate a claim?

    This Accident Insurance benefit is with Airtel recharge of Rs.239/Rs.399/Rs. 969. With these recharges, you also enjoy telecom benefits (unlimited calls, 1.5GB/day & 100 SMS/day with Rs.399 and Rs. 969 recharges; unlimited calls, 100 SMS/day & 2GB data for 28 days with Rs.239) as per the validity of the recharge pack. Since you are not eligible for the insurance, the policy can’t be generated, but you can continue to enjoy other benefits of the pack.

    46) Can I take multiple policies with multiple recharges? I have multiple SIM cards registered on my name. Can I take insurance on all?

    As per policy, our insurance partner ICICI Lombard will service customer’s claims for maximum 1 insurance policy. Since, this is a policy, your claims would be limited to Rs 1 Lac only for accidental death or permanent disability claims and Rs. 25,000 for hospitalization claims.

    The claims and all other queries regarding insurance would be handled by our insurance partner.       • Inform/Intimate the insurer, of your claim. Insurance Company registers the claim and shares a claim number
