FASTag is an easy to use, reloadable tag which enables automatic deduction of toll charges and lets you pass through the toll plaza without stopping for the cash transaction. The tag employs Radio-frequency Identification (RFID) technology and is affixed to the vehicle's windscreen after the tag account is activated.
This program is part of the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) initiative, rolled out by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) under the guidelines of the National Highways Authority of India(NHAI) & and Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL). FASTag is a perfect solution for a hassle-free trip on national highways. It is presently operational at over 1000 toll plazas across national and state highways making toll transactions extremely seamless. To apply for an Airtel FASTag, you need to have an active Airtel Payments Bank Savings Account or Wallet. Then all you need to do is submit the following details the front and back of your Registration Certificate (RC) of the vehicle and the Vehicle Registration number.

No, you will need to purchase two separate FASTags for each vehicle by submitting a scanned copy of your RC book and your Vehicle's registration number.
Yes, you will have to use the lanes demarcated for FASTag users while crossing a toll plaza.
After every transaction at a toll plaza, you will receive an SMS alert on your registered mobile number indicating the amount deducted. You can also check your FASTag transaction history to ensure that the correct amount has been deducted from your account. In case of any queries, feel free to reach out to our customer care executives.
You can report incorrect deduction to the Customer Care Helpline number mentioned on the FASTag. The FASTag team will investigate the matter and if found correct, they will reverse the incorrect deduction to your account.
In case the ETC equipment is not working in spite of having sufficient balance in the FASTag, you will have no other option but to pay in cash at the toll plaza. Additionally, we'd request you to call customer care and report the issue to the concessionaire so that it can be resolved at the earliest.

To do an online FASTag recharge you simply have to load money into your linked Airtel Payments Bank account/wallet using internet banking/ credit card/ debit card pr UPI via the Airtel Thanks app. Post successful loading, a minimum balance amount will be blocked for FASTag and then be used when you cross a poll.

Please call our Customer Care at 400 or 8800688006 for replacement of your FASTag. The new tag issued to you will be linked to your old tag account and the relevant balance amount will be transferred to the new tag. So that way you won’t lose out on any money.
You can call up our customer care number on 400 or 8800688006 and mention your mobile number against which the tag has been registered along with the Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) or Tag ID. Our Customer Support agent will get in touch with you to confirm the process for the closure of FASTag. You would have to then share the destroyed image of FASTag or other relevant documents at wecare@airtelbank.com. Our team would verify the details and closure would be done within 48 working hours. Please note, that accounts cannot be closed for pending recovery or inactive account cases. So clear all your dues before deciding to close your account.

Yes, you will have to submit your documents to the concessionaire of your Toll validating your residence within 10km of that particular plaza. Once it is verified, you may benefit from the concession on the FASTag assigned to your vehicle.
In case of such a dreadful scenario, a complaint is to be lodged with the respective Project Directors immediately at the particular toll plaza.
FASTag balance although not the same, will still be part of your linked account/wallet balance. The minimum FASTag balance amount will be blocked in your linked account for FASTag. For example, if your Airtel Payments Bank account or Airtel wallet has ₹2000 in it, ₹150 will be kept aside as a FASTag minimum balance.
The toll amount will be deducted from your linked Airtel Payments Bank account/wallet. In case your Account/wallet balance is less than the toll payment amount, money will be debited from your blocked FASTag minimum balance amount. Thus, ensuring a smooth and seamless process at the Toll Plaza.
In case your balance is less than the FASTag minimum balance amount for quite some time, there’s a high chance that your tag will be blacklisted by the NPCI. Hence, you need to maintain a minimum balance amount in order to keep your tag active.
Since your FASTag is directly linked to your Airtel Payments Bank account/wallet, your available balance in your wallet/Savings account is your FASTag balance. So, you don’t have to worry about how to check FASTag balance online anymore.

If you have purchased FASTag from a new vehicle dealer, your tag would have been registered using Chassis Number/VIN Number. It is mandatory for you to update the Vehicle Registration Number within 90 days for tags to remain active. To update the vehicle number, you can reach out to your vehicle dealer and share your RC image copy. The dealer would be able to update the Vehicle Number through Airtel Payments Bank Portal. You would receive an SMS once the vehicle Number is updated. Additionally, you can reach out to Airtel payments bank customer service for support with respect to vehicle number updates. Your vehicle number should be updated within 48 hrs of sharing the updated RC copies.
