Terms & Conditions
Applicable to those using Airtel Payments Bank
1. Introduction
DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) is an initiative launched by the Government of India in January, 2013, to transfer benefits and subsidies of various social welfare schemes like LPG subsidy, MNREGA payments, PM KISAN, Pension, Scholarships, etc. directly into the bank accounts of intended beneficiaries. The Government introduced the scheme with the objective of improving the delivery system and redesigning the existing procedures in welfare schemes. DBT aims to transfer subsidy benefits from various Indian welfare schemes directly into the beneficiaries' bank accounts. To avail of the DBT benefits, beneficiaries must ensure they link their bank account to their Aadhaar number. Airtel Payments Bank facilitates the receipt of DBT credits for eligible beneficiaries subject to the terms and conditions outlined herein.
2. Advantages of the DBT
The following are some of the key advantages of direct benefit transfer:
• The DBT scheme offers transparency and removes the subsidy distribution malpractices, expediting the safe distribution of assets. Hence, it reduces the scams and frauds caused by mediators.
• Through this scheme, the subsidy amount gets directly transferred to the beneficiary account, eliminating the necessity of mediators.
• This approach enabled unique linking of rural and urban households for government subsidies and easy money transfers.
• It is an effective way to connect with the beneficiaries to distribute the aid funds.
• Through this scheme, the government can speak with the citizens and program participants at once.
• The government can precisely target the beneficiaries through this scheme.
• It covers various central schemes such as LPG subsidy, National Child Labour Project Student Scholarships, Janani Suraksha Yojna, Dhanlakshmi Scheme, etc.
• Beneficiaries must join one bank account by linking their money contributions with their Aadhaar information, restricting subsidy duplication.
• It allows the distribution of grants to eligible applicants struggling financially and facilitates communication between the eligible people and the government.
The DBT scheme reduces public resource exploitation and avoids payment distribution theft.
