Mandate to Prefix "0" to call Mobile from Landline

On Dialling

1) What will happen if I am not prefixing ‘0’ before dialling a landline number? Will I still be able to reach them?

Yes, for the transition period of 1 week starting 15 Jan 2021, both with & without ‘0’ calls will be allowed. After one week, you will have to add ‘0’ before every number.


2) Do I have to prefix ‘0’ for calls made to mobile number belonging to other operators too?

Yes, you have to prefix ‘0’ before every mobile number.


3) Is this procedure applicable for other fixed line providers as well?

Yes, this is applicable for all fixed line providers.


4) I have call forwarding active. In order to continue using the same, is it mandatory for me to prefix ‘0’ there also?

Yes, you have to prefix ‘0’ even with call forwarding.


5) I have parallel ringing. In order to continue using the same, is it mandatory for me to prefix ‘0’ there also?

Yes, you have to prefix ‘0’ in case of parallel ringing as well.


6) When is this going to be live?

This is going to be live on January 15, 2021


7) Any configuration on my credit machine also required since the primary number it dial is a mobile no.

Yes, you have to prefix ‘0’ before every mobile number.


8) My mobile has numbers saved without ‘0’. Do I need to make changes in the phone book too ?

This is only for calls from fixed line to mobile. No change in mobile phone book is required.


9) What if I prefix +91 instead of 0? Will I still be able to connect?

No, If you are calling a mobile number from your fixed line, you have to prefix ‘0’. Adding +91 will not connect your call.


10) Is this change applicable while dialling any Toll free or customer care number as well.

No, these changes are applicable only for calls from fixed line to mobiles.


11) Is it restricted only to incoming calls or will there be any impact in SMS service or OTP also.

This change is only applicable for calling a mobile number using Fixed line.

On Billing / Charging

1) Will this impact my unlimited calling benefits?

No, this will not impact your unlimited calling benefits.


2) Even though I have free calling services, will the call with ‘0’ prefixed before mobile number get termed as STD call in my itemized bill?

No, this will not be termed as an STD call just because you are adding a ‘0’.
