Collection of Personal Information

We may collect your Personal Information when you use our services or websites or otherwise interact with us during the course of our relationship. The Personal Information may be collected by Airtel through the Customer Application Form (CAF) or through its authorized third parties. Third Party is a service provider who associates with Airtel and is involved in handling, managing, storing, processing, protecting and transmitting information on behalf of Airtel. This definition also includes all sub-contractors, consultants and/or representatives of the Third party.

We may also collect and hold information related to your utilization of our services which may include your call details, cell tower location information contact list, phone numbers, device details, IMSI, purchasing habits, IP Address your browsing history on our website or app, location details and additional information provided by you while using our services.

We may keep a log of the activities performed by you on our network and websites by using various internet techniques such as web cookies, web beacons, server log files, etc. for analytical purposes and for analysis of the amiability of various features on our site. This information may be used to provide you with a better experience at our portal along with evidentiary purposes. At any time while you are browsing our site, if you do not wish to share browsing information, you may opt out of receiving the cookies from our site by making appropriate changes to your browser privacy settings. We may obtain Personal Information from third parties including but not limited to credit information, demographic and interest data, contact, information from social media platforms when you interact with us via social media or use your social media login to interact with Airtel sites or offers, marketing lead and other information we may receive.

In case you do not provide your information or consent for usage of Personal Information or later on withdraw your consent for usage of the personal information so collected, Airtel reserves the right to discontinue the services for which the said information was sought.

Disclosure and Transfer of Personal Information

Internal Use: As explained in the section “Collection of Personal Information” Airtel may utilize some or all available Personal Information for internal assessments, measures, operations and related activities or any other lawful purpose.

We may share your Personal Information for the purposes detailed in this Privacy Policy with our internal third parties, which are the other entities in our group of companies.

We may transfer your personal information or other information collected, stored, processed by us to any other entity or organization located in India or outside India only in to fulfil the terms of a contract we have with you or if you have consented (at the time of collection of information) to the same. This may also include sharing of aggregated information with them in order for them to understand our environment and consequently, provide you with better services. While sharing your Personal Information with third parties, adequate organizational, technical and security measures shall be taken to ensure that reasonable security practices are followed at the third party.

Government Agencies: We may also share your Personal Information without your consent with Government agencies or other authorized law enforcement agencies (LEAs) mandated under law to obtain such information for the purpose of verification of identity or for prevention, detection, investigation including but not limited to cyber incidents, prosecution, and punishment of offences.

We may obtain your consent for sharing your Personal Information in several ways, such as in writing, online, through "click-through" agreements; orally, including through interactive voice response; or when your consent is part of the terms and conditions pursuant to which we provide you service. We, however assure you that Airtel does not disclose your Personal Information to unaffiliated third parties (parties outside Airtel corporate network and its Strategic and Business Partners) which could lead to invasion of your privacy.

Airtel may employ, contract or include third parties (as defined in section 1: Collection of Personal Information) external to itself for strategic, business, tactical and operational purposes. Such agencies though external to Airtel, will always be entities which are covered by contractual agreements wherein we shall take reasonable measures to ensure that the authorized third parties adopt reasonable level of security practices and procedures to ensure security of Personal Information.

Security Practices and Procedures

We adopt reasonable security practices and procedures, in line with international standard IS/ISO/IEC 27001 and applicable laws, to include, technical, operational, managerial and physical security controls in order to protect your Personal Information from unauthorized access, or disclosure while it is under our control.

We further take adequate steps to ensure that our third parties adopt reasonable level of security practices and procedures to ensure security of Personal Information.

While we observe reasonable security measures to protect your Personal Information on all our digital platforms and internet connections, security risks may still arise for reasons outside of our control such as hacking, virus disseminations, force majeure events, breaches of firewall and secure server software etc. Please note that the above-mentioned measures do not guarantee absolute protection to the Personal Information.

Access and Correction

To the extent feasible and subject to applicable laws we shall provide you access to the information that Airtel holds about you as well as facilitate any correction and updation of information. Airtel may need to request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity and ensure your right to access your personal data (or to exercise other rights you may have under applicable law). This is a security measure to ensure that personal data is not disclosed to any person who does not have a right to receive it. We may also contact you to ask you for further information in relation to your request to speed up our response. We use best efforts to respond to legitimate requests within a reasonable timeframe.

If you no longer want to receive marketing messages from Airtel, you can choose to opt out at any time. If you’ve previously opted in to receive personalised content based on how and where you use our network, you can also opt out at any time.

The easiest way to opt out is by sending a SMS “START DND” to 1909(Toll free).

There are also various other ways to opt out:
• Call our customer services team on 121
• Tell the adviser if you receive a marketing call
• Disable push notification messages, including marketing messages, at any time in our apps by changing the notification settings on your device or by uninstalling the app

You may have received marketing from Airtel even if you’re not a customer or have never had contact with us. This is a result of third-party marketing lists which Airtel may acquire from time to time, stating that you have given permission to be contacted by other organisations. If you’ve registered with us to opt out of marketing from Airtel, you shouldn’t receive such communications.

FF1 Patroller App

At the time you (a) register to the FF1 Patroller application (“Software”) for using the services, products and materials made available to you using the Software (“Service”), (b) make any payments related to your use of the Service, (c) download any content made available through the Service (“Content”), (d) update the Software, (e) share any information through the Software and/or (f) contact us through our help and support channels, we may ask you for your personal data (such as your name, telephone number, address, date of birth, credit card details (if required as mode of payment) certain unique identifiers, and any other information or data that can be used to identify or contact you) (“Personal Data”). By registering to the Service and/or using the Software / Content, you hereby agree to be bound by the Terms of Use and the terms in this privacy notice (“Privacy Notice”) We also may automatically receive and track certain data about your mobile device (such as your device-type, time- zone, version of the operating system or Software currently installed, and language preference) or your activity logs from the use of the Service, Software and Content, and we may create a unique device ID for you so we can recognize you. Airtel may collect such non-identifiable information for gathering data on what parts of the Service / Software are of most interest to Users. In some cases, we can automatically detect your location data, but we will not use it unless you give us permission to do so. If you connect with any social networking site (“SNS”), we may also receive some data from that network (e.g. your SNS ID, name, profile picture, gender, age, locale and email address), which shall be deemed to be included within the meaning of your Personal Data. You are not required to provide the Personal Data. However, you agree that in that case we may not be able to provide you with our products or services or respond to any queries you may have.

2. ​Use of Personal Data

We may use your Personal Data in accordance with the corresponding Terms of Use, and more particularly for the following purposes

a. to identify you from time to time, as required, and to validate your use of theServices,

b. to provide you with the Services and the display of customized content, and targeted advertising both on our apps/websites and on other apps/ websites that we advertise through,

c. to communicate with the Software and Services and for resolving customer service issues,

d. to determine when you link from our app / Software to one of our partner apps, so that we can monitor the level of traffic that we generate for our partner apps,

k. to share your Personal Data with Airtel’s affiliates and group companies for any of therefore going purposes, which affiliates may also combine your Personal Data with other information in this regard.

Nothing anything else in this Privacy Notice, you understand that in order to comply with the applicable laws and contractual requirements, Airtel may be required to access your location data in order to ensure that your access to the Service is within a particular geographical territory. You hereby consent to such access by Airtel for the foregoing purposes.

3. ​You sharing data with third parties

Third parties (such as companies who advertise through our apps) may require you to provide your personal data in order to access their products, advertisements and offers. If you visit or register for a third party product, advertisement or offer, we may pass some data about your device to that third party (e.g. your tag history and country of registration) so that they can send you offers. However, we will not pass your email address or other contact details to these third parties without your permission.

Any third parties’ use of your personal data is governed by their own privacy policy (which should be accessible from their website or application). If you do not want third parties to be able to access or use your personal data, you should not register for, click on or use the applicable third party application or product.

4. ​Sharing with social networks

If you register to or use the Service using an SNS account, you allow Airtel to automatically share your activity, usage and activity-related stories with the Service, Software and Content. You understand that Airtel may post such information on your SNS profile/account. Airtel may also publish such information to any other integrated or associated services of Airtel. For the purpose of identification, authentication and ease of access, Airtel may store your username and an access token or similar credentials obtained from such SNS/third party service.

5. ​Airtel sharing data with third parties

Airtel may provide your Personal Data or any portion of it to Airtel’s strategic partners that work with Airtel to provide products and services, or that help Airtel market its products and services to customers. Your Personal Data will only be shared by Airtel to provide or improve our products, services and advertising and not for marketing purposes of such third parties. You further acknowledge that Airtel may be required under law, legal process, litigation, and/or requests from public and governmental authorities to disclose your Personal Data.

Further, Airtel payment processing partners /gateways may access you billing and shipping information (including your credit cards details, balance in your Airtel account, etc.) in relation to any payments that you make for using the Service. You agree that such third-party partners of Airtel may receive such information directly from you. Such third parties’ access and protection of your Personal Data will be in accordance with their privacy and security policies and Airtel will not be liable for the same in any way.

7. ​Use of Cookies

Airtel uses cookies and beacons to assist in delivering the service and to provide a positive and personalized user experience. Cookies are files sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. Our persistent and session ID Cookies are used to identify unique visitors and to provide a personalized user experience. Beacons are bits of code that function similar to cookies. Our beacons are embedded in outgoing emails and generate a call back to the Airtel server when such emails are opened. Airtel uses beacons to track the status of sent emails. If you do not wish to receive cookies, you may disable them.

Airtel has implemented adequate and industry accepted processes designed to protect Personal Data and maintain security. It is the User’s responsibility to protect the security of their login information. Airtel’s servers are located in secure server environments. Firewalls and other advanced security technologies are employed to prevent interference or access from outside intruders. These safeguards help prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of data.

The Software/Service may allow you to choose the manner of and the extent to which you wish to disclose the Personal Data. You may also be allowed to disable some of the features that require sharing of Personal Data.
