Q1. What is Family Plan?

With Airtel Postpaid, you can now enjoy a single postpaid plan that lets you share your calls & data with your entire family. By choosing a family plan, you not only get the convenience of a single bill, you can also save up to 25% on your monthly mobile spends. There are two types of connections that you can add to your Family Plan-

Q2. What are the charges that I need to pay for family members with single family plan?

With Airtel Family Plans, you get the option to choose from two types of connections –

Q3. Can I allocate/restrict benefits to my family connections?

Yes. To have a better control on your family usage, you can set data limit for each family connection as well as track usage for the same. Simply follow these steps:

Step 1: Open My Airtel App

Step 2: Select Manage Account and go to Bills & Plan

Step 3: Select Family Plan option

Step 4: Select the family number and click on the three dots on right side of the screen

Step 5: Click on “Set Limit” and select the family number and the limit you want to assign & save changes

Q4. How do I add connections to my Family plan?

Adding a member to your Family Plan is very simple. Simply follow these steps –

Step 1: Open My Airtel App

Step 2: Select Manage Account section and go to Bills & Plan option

Step 3: Go to Family Plan tab and click on “Add New Member” at the bottom the screen and follow the steps to add your family member.

If the number that you want to add is not on Airtel, then you would first have to switch that number to Airtel. To buy a new connection or to switch with the same number, visit www.airtel.in/postpaid

Q5. How many members can be added in my family plan?

You can add up to a total of 9 connections to your family plan. These can be any of the regular or data-only connections.

Q6. How long will it take to add my family members to a single plan?

It takes up to 24 hours to add a connection to your family plan, once we receive the SMS consent from your family member. We will send a confirmation SMS once the number has been added to your plan.

Q7. Will my family member receive bills for their usage?

No. Family plan come with the convenience of one common bill for the entire family. You can check the bill details for all the members in a single bill.

Q8. My family connections are under different names and registered address. Can I add them in my family plan?

For adding existing Airtel connections, whether prepaid or postpaid, all we need is an SMS consent from your family members, even if they are under different names & registered addresses in the same state. However, if your family member is in a different state, you would have to port-in that number through Inter State MNP process. To start the process, visit your nearest Airtel Store
For adding non-Airtel connections, we will require identity proof and address proof for porting the connection to Airtel. To buy a new connection or to switch with the same number, visit www.airtel.in/postpaid

Q9. I have a corporate plan. Is Family plan available for me?

No. Family plans are currently not available for corporate customers.

Q10. Can my family member change plan or add data boosters?

Only the primary number on which Family plan has been activated, can change the plan or add data boosters. The other family members can only activate services like International Roaming, Hello tunes, missed call alert, etc. for his/her connection.

Q11. How can I remove family members from family plan?

To remove family number from your plan, follow these steps –

Step 1: Open My Airtel App

Step 2: Select Manage Account and go to Bills & Plan

Step 3: Go to Family Plan tab and select the 3 dots against the family member that you want to remove and click on "Remove".

In order to keep the number active, you will need to confirm the correspondence address & the bill plan for family member when you remove him/her from the family plan. An SMS confirmation will be sent to you and the family member, once the connection has been removed from the family plan.

Q12. How do I change the family plan?

To change your family plan, follow these steps –

Step 1: Open My Airtel App

Step 2: Select Manage Account and go to Bills & Plan

Step 3: Go to My Plan tab & change your plan as per your requirement

Q13. Can a family member request for plan change?

No. Other family members cannot request for changing the plan. Only the primary connection, on which the family plan is active, can change the plan

Q14. Can I add my dongle/data card number in my Family plan?

Yes. You can add your dongle/data card number in your family plan. However, the data benefits of existing dongle/data card plan will cease to exist and the benefits on primary number can be shared by the dongle number

Q15. I have heard that I can get free connections for my family with Airtel Postpaid. How do I get this?
